Liliane Vertessen

After a traditional upbringing, in Limburg, Liliane’s entrance to the art scene came as a singer in a jazz group. In the late 60s she began experimenting with photographing herself. She adapted the analog exposures with coloring and neon lights, adding a new edge to her intimate and often sexually-charged photos.

While often compared to others in the feminist artistic movement of the 70s, Vertessen still stands as a unique singular artist.
